Going forward, one of the things I am going to be concentrating more on is Detroit’s neighborhoods. The places where the people actually live. I think many of these images may be predictable, but as we go through the city I think many people will be surprised at the diversity and in some instances affluence of Detroit’s great neighborhoods. This post is just a smattering from the East Side, but it is a good example of what I am talking about – clapboard two family dwellings surrounding palatial gated communities and high rise apartments. But was it always like this ? Yep, going back a a hundred years or so. My grandparents raised their family in one of these type of houses, in one of these neighborhoods. My father was born in a lower flat that my grandfather rented from family friends. A couple blocks away were several large mansions, and a gated community.
