The nasty blown out shell of the James Scott “spite house” on Peterboro Street in Midtown is finally being turned into a real building again. What a strange history this place has had. James Scott ran into problems when he was planning construction of this house, and ended up only building a giant facade with nothing behind it. In later years, an apartment building was fashioned out of the facade. That fell into absolute ruins for years. This place was usually only in the news when they found dead bodies inside it.
James Scott is the guy they built the fountain on Belle Isle to commemorate. That’s his statue sitting next to the fountain.
