Hey folks, if you are up in the outer rings this weekend looking for some culture, check out this show at Oakland University. WHO WERE THEY THEN [image from oakland university]

I am specifically recommending this show because the artist Clinton Snider is simply OFF THE HOOK when it comes to Detroit based paintings. His work is both comforting and disturbing in it’s familiarity, and Clint is able to describe for the viewer what it feels like to walk through the wild interiors of the City in a way no photograph or video could ever do. The images are hallucinatory in their vivid twisting rambling presentations of the post infrastructure states one might find in the lost areas of Detroit. It is one thing when somebody paints so well, but it is something special when they have such an amazing ability to communicate vivid new worlds and viewpoints to the viewer. Somebody who you should definitely check out.
