This is one of a million pesky underground water leaks in the City of Detroit – located next to the Altas Building, it gives the folks on this block a hard time now and then. The fountainhead is along side the light pole next to that curb – quite a bit of pressure from it too. (this was from a few weeks ago)
The real facts are that much of Detroit’s infrastructure, especially that which lies beneath the surface, is as much as centuries old in places. The water system is shared region wide, so everybody in the large multi-county block pays for the lack of integrity of the system. This is a billion dollar problem which needs to be addressed for real. It is an issue which is far beyond the scope of a single municipal utility company.
