Odd little theater structure along Van Dyke near Harper Avenue.
This building must have been numerous things over the years, most recently a church. Looking for remnants of the original theater design…
The brick pattern walls are part of the original decor.
The area where there was a stage is walled off, and so is the left exit, but the right exit remains.
Sadly all the fancy brickwork has been whitewashed..
Ah – but then we found this bit inside a utility closet – with no whitewash – nice !
Nothing too exciting, but worth the trip through to find those painted brick patterns..
Wow, a 5 year run as a theater – that sucks !
This looks like the old Van Dyke Theater: http://cinematreasures.org/theater/9511/
Wow – that record player brought back some memories! I had one, too – played “Another One Bites the Dust” over and over and over….
I cant remember, but it was something strange I never heard of. The record player worked, but the 45 was too far gone.
Okay, here it is:
Dazz Band – A Side: “Let It Whip” B Side: “Everyday Love” produced and arranged by Reggie Andrews.
Ahhahahaha ! “Dazz Band” ? WTF ! It was the 1980’s Motown, the DeBarge era – whaddaya want ? ha !
And what Motown hit was on the Fisher=-Price platter?
