1967 as Detroit’s 1776 – THE STORY OF THE HOPE DISTRICT. The 1967 rebellion happened for social, political and economic empowerment. The Hope District is a manifestation of the flame ’67.

“Still Burns for Peace” ?

Oh lord, what a bunch of CRAP. A riot is now a “rebellion”. Burning down the city and your neighbors houses is empowering ? And yes, this neighborhood was touched by the 1967 riot, and its current condition still suffers from it.

You can thank Tyree Guyton for the misconception that dribbling some paint on an old tire will cure the ghetto.

(It *is* amusing to see the Orwellian nature of the self-selected district name, though. :) )
