After much hype and little actual development, I went over to look at the Packard recently. The new owner, a sort of bizarre Peruvian J. Peterman looking guy – was required to remove dangerous debris from the upper floors where the scrappers had chopped out the penthouse. Much of this was still left falling down to Concord Street below, and it was a hazard for quite a long time. Crews came and removed these dangling chunks of reinforced concrete from the building, but Concord Street is still unusable and impassible because of the dangerous structure. Absolutely no other “development” is going on anywhere that I can see anyplace on the property. No work trucks, no fences, buildings are not secured and windows are not boarded up. Packard used to be boarded up tight 360 degrees around the perimeter- about 10 years ago. It isn’t impossible, just expensive.
In short, J. Peterman has done nothing to the building to date other than what the building department has compelled him to do.
