Sweetest Heart of Mary

We accidentally crashed a wedding party when we got here, so I didnt take as many photographs of the sanctuary as I would have liked to.

A striking gothic sanctuary with massive yet delicate vaulted ceilings.

The vaulted ceilings are decorated in every corner with angels observing the actions below

This former church building, perhaps the original recotory, now sits empty – aside from some stored soda cases inside.

At the former convent building, they have a rather creepy homage to its former use: a plastic nun watches out the window.

Up the road over on St. Aubin Street, we find St. Albertus. This grand sanctuary sits semi-dormant, with only one service per month.

The St Albertus school is in fact amongst Detroits ruins, missing windows and having had its copper stripped from its roof flashing.
