Bridge things that go nowhere over nothing. Does anybody think these were a good idea ?

  • I think the viaducts or bridges are an interesting sight which helps with the monotony of driving in metro Detroit. What else do we have to look at besides litter? I’m mixed on whether I really like the architecture or not, I’m glad it’s there. They photograph well too. I took some shots myself.

  • Those bridges aren’t there simply for “asthetics” either. They are tied-arch bridges whose main purpose is to span the entire interchange below them. Regular overpasses could not be used at this location. The extra grant money was used to “dress them up” with the ugly-ass footballs. A waste, maybe, but not a taxpayer waste.

They aren’t in the city limits of Detroit, and the “city” didn’t put a cent in them.

  • I think those bridges are awesome – 96 and 94 are a joy to drive on compared to what they were a year ago – be thankful upgrades are taking place at all people.

  • assnine, idiotic, stupid, waste of money.Whats the point? The money could have paid for snowplows for 20 years.I am dumbfounded

  • I definitely think the money could have been spent better, but they do give me something to look at. Is that a compliment on this construction piece, Im not sure yet. I do like the extra lighting up of the trees around that area close to the highway, though.

  • from an engineering standpoint, those bridges are actually kinda cool.

otherwise, they’re just some pretty bullshit on the way to hell.

  • If anyone thinks that bridge/overpass was a good idea I’d like to know too. With the budget problems the city has, I cannot for the life of me figure out why they would spend upwards of 3 million dollars to put that hideous football sculpture over the highway just for the Superbowl.

  • oh my god not those stupid fuckin bridges again…

theyre so retarded they hurt my eyes

  • My wife’s first comments were “why” and “What a waste!” the first time we drove by them.

Of course traffic was backed up for miles because of the construction. I’m sure that didn’t help anyone’s attitude to this strange “art”.

Were any of the superbowl visitors impressed?

  • Heh, yeah. The people that allocated the funds, came up with the dumb idea, and made the contracts etc. for that “bridge” should be rounded up and tar and feathered in the town square for the total disregard of people’s tax dollars. Outright theft!

    Peace to you dfUNK
