not all those who wander are lost

Hamtramck Disney – the work of an Ukrainian American named Dmytro Szylak. ( no relation to Moe Szylak of The Simpsons! )

An incredible hodgepodge of whirling naively painted bright colored crap. So much to look at in a small area that your eyes just dart around helplessly.

I gotta thank Steve and Hillary for giving me the heads up on this place – absolutely over the top ! I was struck by the very compact and clean as a whistle neighborhood this is in. Clean and neat enough to eat off of…

Gazing at the Technicolor craziness while I had “Back in the USSR” stuck in my head.

– well those Ukraine girls really knock me out, they leave the West behind, Moscows girls make me sing and shout, that Georgias always on my my my my mind…..

Dmytro himself. He aint joking about that donation box either – heh.

  • Everytime I have out of towners in Hamtramck I take them there! They are always amazed!

  • Yeah, I just learned about it myself. The Hamtramck Star folks led us there.

  • Fantastic job on the hamtramck disney fiasco, how could i have never heard about that ghetto oasis before?

  • :)

Disneyland is on the alley behind Sobieski and Klinger, south of Carpenter and north of Commor. There’s actually a faded sign on Commor that says “Disneyland North Detroit”.

Twice last week, I saw trucks from the DFD back into the alley to get a look.

  • I’ll have to look up those instructions, its certainly not a place you will stumble upon driving around, you have to go right to it. I’ll email you the data. (really nice n’hood btw)

  • Great shots! Exactly where it it located?
