all who wander are not lost

Little ants crawling their way to the fireworks display

Goin’ to a go-go…..

Wayne County Sheriff Department Mounted Division in action.

We had damn good seats, but these folks had the best ! Perched atop the Penobscot observation decks.

The Penob was all dressed up for the occasion in red white and blue lights.

This was one of our vantage points

This was the other

Through some stroke of genius (or maybe just a stroke) a Tigers baseball game was scheduled at the same time as the works. Luckily it appeared to go into xtra innings.

“ooooooooooooooh”

“aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah”

After the works the cloud of torched gunpowder drifted over the City

Good show ! Traffic was not a problem, nor parking. Just plain fun.

  • Thank you so much Felicia !

  • I am really not into fireworks. BUT YOUR PICS ARE THE GREATEST. I am a former Detroiter and your pics made the hair on my arms stand at attention. These a very beautiful, deem worthy enough to hang on someones wall to be admired! You have a wonderful eye.

  • Beautiful pics! Made even more “real” because the real pics of Grosse Pointe vs. Detroit bring things allllll into focus!

  • Great photography. I’ve had my 4th of July now. Keep up the good work!

  • Keronce – thanx! No book in the near future – those bastards are damn expensive to get published. Unless YOU are a publisher and thats an offer – LOL. I will let you know when my next big photography show is, probably this winter.

Nailhed – ohhhh yeah its torn up on 36 ! That one broken window that faces north – the glass is in a pile on the ground still, and ‘notathemepark’ almost biffed face first into it. (didnt spill his beer though…)

I was scouting for you guyz on the Broderick. I got shots of the Wurl from my vantage point when the sun was still up – I’ll post it when I get a chance.

  • ahhh, MrsBooklady–i wondered. i did see lights on up there. but i thought most of the 36th floor was torn up for some kind of stalled renovation? at least it was a couple weeks ago when i was there last…

  • …Once again Detroitfunk you’re “the Shizzle”, those photos are tight and you’ve got a good photographic eye.
Props man, and keep up th’ good work!

PS. Is there a book in the works?

  • I’ll work on a desktop version today..

Nailhed – as much as Id love to brag that I infiltrated the Book, we were there with permission hanging with MrsBooklady at her private party on the 36th floor. Access courtesy of ‘notathemepark’ and ‘littlebird’.

  • Wow. Wow. Fantastic.

  • once again amazing photos!
Makes me wish I wasn’t in Florida. :(
I would also like to know if you are willing to provide any shots for my computer desktop?

  • arrrrgh! so you did get in the Book then? i had thought about that or the Penobscot but didnt want to end up locked in the blg or something.

so we ended up on top of the Wurl.

  • As always you took some great pics! You managed to capture some great shots from your vantage point…Keep it up homie…

    Maximum Respect

  • Wow, absolutley beautiful shots man, awesome.

Watching it on TV everything looks orange, its really not even worth it.

Man, most of those shots would make awesome computer desktops, any chance of getting full sized pics?? Sorry to be needy :-)

Thanks for all your hard work.

  • That’s the best coverage I’ve seen. Didn’t make it down this year, but looking at your pictures makes if feel like we were. Who needs Channel 4 when we got “the funk”.
