all who wander are not lost

This is a sort of make shift park area under a billboard near I-75 in Mexicantown

This is the now abandoned 3th Precinct.

[dfunk reader Mac adds: “Hey DF, the old 13th precinct was up on Woodward & Hancock wasn’t it? The one in your picture looks like the old 3rd (?) down on vernor?” – correction made. ]

Here’s a great architectural style – the Geodesic Dome !

This property is on the market right now I believe.

  • ha was just down there, went over to the mercy dental school to get the free work done son! by the way notice the SAVE THE DEPOT on MCS. was totally stoked to see that. and all the weird art surrounded by garbage really bummed me. but neat area.

  • The domes were taken off the market without a sale. Leo Gillis was trying to do a short sale, and couldn’t even find a taker at 70k, and the last recorded mortgage on public record for the place was for 170k back in 2006

  • Thats cool – 555 is moving yet again. Amazing they can keep it up ! That is a good location, right near the restaurants.

  • I love that house. The original builder/resident was Jack White’s brother Leo. Good news about the old 3rd precinct building is that there are plans to renovate it for 555 Gallery’s new space this summer. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will happen.

  • Oh yeah – that is a house, dude ! You can buy it and move right in. Has a garage too.

  • Any idea what the domes were used for?

  • Right on Mac – Im making the correction now. Too sleepy this morning. I was wondering where the hell an aerial view of the 3rd would be from !!!
