not all those who wander are lost

I’m a walking nightmare, an arsenal of doom
I kill conversation as I walk into the room
I’m a three line whip, I’m the sort of thing they ban
I’m a walking disaster, I’m a Demolition Man
Demolition, demolition
Demolition, demolition

“Demolition Man” ~ by Sting

The lingering remains of the Madison Lenox demolition

The back wall of the Lenox still standing alone.

Signage remains: “O” from any of 3 in the sign.

“S” from the Madison portion of the sign.

This is the current Park Shelton Art Deco Garage structure demolition.

Deco details from the facade.

Park Shelton has caught the “Loft Disease” that is sweeping the city. I guess they need a bigger garage to fit SUVs.

The Statler continues to melt away slowly on a daily basis.

Inside out, top to bottom, back to front demolition.

  • “-Like Harrison Ford Im getting frantic, like Sting Im Tantric, like Snickers guaranteed to satisfy….”

Look pal, the Police will blow away LosLobos ANYDAY ! Just because Sting was in the band, you cant hold it against the other two guys.

If that still makes you sick, check out the Grace Jones version of that tune.

  • such a bummer that parking structure came down. i always thought that was a beautiful motor city artifact. it did look like some of the details had been saved, though. at least i drove by before it was demoed and some of the reliefs were gone.

  • Yep Yep Jason – my photography is almost always less than a week old when it goes up. I use off days to fill in interesting things I take pictures of, and those images can be as much as four years old. But this is how the Statler looks as of Tuesday 24 May 2005.

    Shes fading fast . . .

  • I had no idea that the Statler looked that way in the rear…is this really being tore-down right now?

  • Thanks Hapless –

That Tudor is part of Wayne State University, I think its the mortuary sciences building now.

The original owner I cant remember. Ill look that up.

  • It almost seems hard to believe that the structures of the Madison-Lenox were in danger of collapse when at each stage of demolition it seems like the walls have held up until pulled down.

Also, In the 9th and 10th pictures from the top there is a nice tudor structure in the background. What is it?

Btw – Your website is incredible, I really like it!
