I was shocked when I drove past this. It seemed to happen over night. It doesn’t look like fire. What happened to it?

The beginning of the end. Are they dumping the debris in the basement, or is it being hauled away?
Every time I see Packard related posts I am always amazed that a site of this size and complexity could not have been repurposed at some time over the last 50 or so years.
I’d be curious to see how much debris actually gets recycled. Perhaps in some way the old building(s) get to live on…re-purposed, if you will.
Western end of the building is now gone. How could you drive up to mt Rushmore and leave with a head? Only in Detroit can a building spontaneously demolish itself.
