Great job Detroit Public Schools.
DPS not in charge of this mess any more – this is the fine work of the Emergency Financial Manager. The EFMs that have been running DPS have done a bad job and they are viscously over paid.
The lawn looks nice, weed free! The efm guys must have had it sprayed to enhance the sale/lease!
Dfunk, what kind of oversight do these folks have? Can you vote them out or are you stuck with some bureaucrats who only are concerned about their well paid jobs?
The modern addition is a Gunnar Birkerts design. I have a few pictures of the common room when it was brand new. Pretty sad now.

And now that you mention it, Marty, that lawn does look pretty good.
You can not vote out an Emergency Financial Manager because the act of putting one in place circumvents every notion of democracy possible. The only thing we can do is remove the people who put them in place, which is the Governor. The laws are all booby-trapped so they can not be repealed with out hell to pay. The EFM doesnt answer to anybody other than the Governor. It may have been all messed up before Governor Rick Snyder took office, but when he installed his EFM, everything after that is on his watch and he owns it. Lillibridge is an example of what is still happening – and Governor Snyder is solely responsible for what goes on as a result of his hand selected EFM. Right now they are all doing a real bad job.
The elected school board members did such a great job. Too bad they had to bring in the emergency financial manager. He really has screwed things up.
The school board sucked, but they were cheaper than Emergency Financial Managers…who by the way, also suck.
Well the gym and basketball court looks in pretty good shape, makes you want to shoot some hoops! As for the school board, EFM, & governor, they are the suckiest sucks that ever sucked.
